Field Hockey

The start of the 2026 fall athletic season is quickly approaching, and Duxbury High School student-athletes should mark their calendars for Monday, August 24, when official preseason practices and tryouts begin.

Students interested in participating in football, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, cross country, cheerleading, girls volleyball, and boys golf are encouraged to attend tryouts and preseason sessions. Specific practice and tryout times for each sport will be posted on the athletic calendar on the Duxbury High School Athletics website as the season approaches.

Participation in all scheduled tryout sessions is extremely important. While many programs strive to provide opportunities for all interested student-athletes and may not make cuts from the overall program, attendance at every tryout session is essential for proper team placement and evaluation. Coaches use the preseason period to assess skills, conditioning, commitment, and readiness for competition.

For student-athletes aspiring to earn a position on a varsity team, attendance at all tryout sessions is particularly critical. Coaches can only make accurate varsity placement decisions when they have the opportunity to evaluate athletes throughout the entire tryout period.

Families are encouraged to ensure that all required athletic registration materials and medical documentation are completed prior to the start of the season. Student-athletes should also arrive prepared with appropriate equipment, hydration, and a commitment to giving their best effort.

The fall season is an exciting time for Duxbury Athletics, and we look forward to welcoming both returning athletes and newcomers as we begin another year of Dragon pride, teamwork, and competition.
