Duxbury High School Athletics has been named the recipient of the Boston Globe’s Holmes Award as the top Division 2 program in Massachusetts for the 2024–25 school year. The recognition, part of the Globe’s 53rd annual Globe Scholastic Awards, honors the schools with the best overall regular-season performance across all sports.
A season of sustained excellence
Duxbury finished the 2024–25 regular season with a combined record of 284–97–7, posting a 74.1% winning percentage across 388 contests — the number that propelled the school to the top of the Holmes Division 2 standings. Patriot League rival Hingham finished second in the division. This marks Duxbury’s first Globe Scholastic trophy since it won Dalton Division 3 honors in 2001.
Teamwork, depth, and community support
From fall to spring, a broad base of student-athletes delivered consistent results — a reflection of strong coaching, committed athletes, and active community backing. The Globe’s Scholastic Awards rank schools by regular-season win percentage, using a database updated daily through the season.
What this means for Duxbury
Winning the Holmes Award is a statewide affirmation of Duxbury’s year-round athletic excellence. The honor brings deserved recognition to coaches, athletes, support staff, volunteers, and the families who turn out to cheer the Dragons on. It also serves as momentum going into the 2025–26 school year, encouraging continued investment in participation, coaching, and sportsmanship.
