REMINDER:  Students must withdraw from Summer Term classes prior to June 5, 2026 to receive a refund of tuition less a $10 processing fee per class.

AGES 18 MONTHS – 2.11 YEARS

Join us for summer fun geared especially for toddlers. We’ll be engaging in all types of activities involving art, water play, music and movement, and stories! Activities will coincide with our weekly themes.  We would like to spend as much time outdoors as we can. Please have your child sun screened and already in water play clothing (bathing suit, water shoes, towel).  Things to pack daily: Sippy cup or water bottle, nut free snack, diapers and wipes if needed, change of clothes. This program will take place in a Toddler classroom at the Magic Dragon Children’s Center and Preschool at the Chandler Elementary School.  Max. enrollment: 8

INSTRUCTORS: HEATHER ALI AND DAWN RANDALL  currently work in the  Toddler classrooms at the Magic Dragon Preschool and Children's Center in the Chandler School. Both bring many years of classroom teaching experience and a love for children to this Toddler summer offering.

AGES  3  - 4.11

Our preschool campers will enjoy weekly themed activities through dramatic play, music and movement, stories, art, science, and sensory play.  We like to spend as much time as possible outdoors so please apply sunscreen to your child before arriving.  Campers will need a water bottle and a nut-free snack each day.  Class is limited to 14 students.  Location:  Chandler School/Magic Dragon Preschool classroom.

INSTRUCTOR: CAITLIN MACCAFERRI is a Preschool Teacher at the Magic Dragon Children's Center, where she has worked for over 15 years, including several years with young preschoolers.  She loves the outdoors and singing every day!

AGES 4 - 5.11   

In Pre-K Full STEAM Ahead , children will have fun exploring science, technology, engineering, arts, and math through exciting hands-on activities. Each week will include group projects, art, games, stories, exploring outside, sensory activities, music and movement. We like to spend time outdoors, so please apply sunscreen to your child before arriving. Students will need a water bottle and a healthy nut-free snack each day. Class size is limited to 14 students.

INSTRUCTOR: ALICIA BAKER, Magic Dragon Teacher has been a Preschool Teacher for 4 and 5 year olds at the Magic Dragon Children's Center for over 20 years.

AGE: 5 ENTERING K

Get ready for an introduction to Kindergarten fun! This program is for five year olds who will be attending Kindergarten in the Fall. Students will add new layers to their previous learning experience through games, art, music, and hands on activities. Students will have the opportunity to practice and strengthen their kindergarten readiness through activity centers and by interacting with their peers. Week One will be focused on Outer Space, and each day will feature theme based learning centers, opportunities for large group activities, and outdoor time designed to provide the essential skills they will to start kindergarten in the Fall. Join us for a fun filled week to get ready and set for Kindergarten! Max: 12 students

AGES: 5 - 6

Ages 5 - 6 STEAM Arts & Crafts for Curious Creatures are hands-on creative activities that blend Art with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. In this class kids will create, build, and explore—using art to spark curiosity, confidence, and problem-solving. Each project encourages children to try new ideas, experiment, and proudly say, “I made this!” Kids will create a giant ice cream cone, a bird feeder, a bubblegum puffer fish, chia seed greenhouse & more. All materials and supplies included. Max # of students 12.

Ages 7 - 9 STEAM Arts and Crafts for Young Makers Designed for growing thinkers, this class combines art, building, and problem-solving. Kids experiment with materials, explore basic engineering and science ideas, and learn to plan, test, and improve their work. It’s creative, hands-on learning that builds independence, focus, and real-world thinking skills. Students will make chomping crocodiles, a magnetic race track, 3D shaving cream prints, gliding jellyfish and more.  All materials and supplies included. Max # of students 12.

INSTRUCTOR: MEAGHAN TORRES is a Duxbury resident and graphic designer with over 17 years of experience in the field. She loves arts and crafts and has a number of years of volunteer experience working with children.

AGES 5 - 11

Plan, pack and create a beach bag full of fun surprises. Create a personalized bag through the art of hand-sewing and decorating with fabric paints. You’ll fill it with embellished flip-flops, sunglasses, hats, and homemade lip balm. Play games with water balloons, take photographs with the sun, and learn how to stay cool with spray bottle fans and ice cube necklaces. The beach bag and all embellished contents go home with you at the end of the class. All materials/supplies included. Campers will need a water bottle and a nut-free snack each day. MAX 14

AGES 5 - 11

This class will teach kids how to mix it up using a variety of multi media supplies to create unusual pictures and patterns. Students will work with paints, kitchen spices, rubber cement, string, India ink, glue, paste, leaves, ferns, candles, and crayons. Bring a smock and dress in old clothing. Be prepared to undergo a fun messy experience with great results. All materials/supplies included. Campers will need a water bottle and a nut-free snack each day. MAX 14 students

AGES 5 - 11

This class is hands on experimenting! During this non-stop, fun-filled four day session of experimentation, your child will take on the role of scientist. Exploring everyday common household materials they will form a hypothesis, comparing and contrasting the results of each activity, while answering the often asked question “Why does it do that?” Our Science Adventure will include Helium Filled Balloon and Rocket Races, Gas Cannons, Volcanoes, Tornados, and much more. All materials/supplies included. Campers will need a water bottle and a nut-free snack each day. MAX 14 students

AGES 6 - 8

Join Mr. Henninger, P.E. teacher at Chandler and Alden schools, for a week of fitness, friends and fun! Each morning will begin with fitness stations, followed by a snack break and end with organized team games. Students will enjoy some of their favorite games such as Capture the Flag, Mandalorian, Wallball and more. There will be a continued emphasis on team-building and skill development while participating in a relaxed, fun environment. Please send your child with a snack and drink and apply sunscreen before class. Drop off and pick up directly at the CHANDLER GYM. Class size limited to 34 students.

INSTRUCTOR: RICHARD HENNINGER is a Physical Education Teacher at the Chandler Elementary School. He has offered Fitness, Friends, and Fun to students during the school year and summer for over fifteen years.

AGES 6 - 8

Teamwork Heroes is a summer program where children learn how to work together, manage big feelings, and shine as part of a team. Through exciting “Hero Training” missions, kids practice empathy, patience, cooperation, and flexible thinking as they learn to follow a group plan, solve problems together, and handle everyday challenges in positive ways. Along the way, we sneak in fun academic challenges to keep learning fresh, playful, and stress-free, so kids build confidence, friendships, and skills they can use all year long. Please pack water and a nut-free snack. Teamwork Heroes offers the same content in each session. Please sign your child up for one session only.

AGES 6 - 9

Do you love to play games indoor and out? Join us for this fun filled class where we’ll go on Scavenger Hunts, play outdoor games such as Capture the Flag, Noodle Freeze Tag and Frisbee Tic Tac Toe, and spend time indoors with some favorite board games and card games. Students will have the opportunity to develop problem solving skills and creative thinking as they devise their own games and try them out in class. Max 14

AGES 6 - 9

 INSTRUCTOR: PAULA BORG has a degree in Art and has taught at Before and After Dark and in the Chandler Extended Day program for several years.

INSTRUCTOR: KARINA RYAN has a Masters in Art Education degree and has taught PreK - Adult Art for the past 20 years.  She is currently an Art Teacher at the Sacred Heart School in Kingston and a Teacher at the Alden Extended Day program.

AGES 7 - 10

Understanding how software can interact with robots is a key skill for the STEM jobs of tomorrow. In this class we provide several active, playful activities, where students learn about what it means to write, debug, and execute computer programs that communicate with different robotic devices. Using the power of code, students will turn Sphero SPRK+ robots into Magic 8 Balls, automated Red Light / Green Light games, and the arcade classic Pong — and Unruly Splats will become our voting machines, relay races, guessing games, and more.

AGES 8 - 12

AGES 9-11

Home Alone Staying Safe prepares 9-11 year olds for situations that can happen when staying home alone, from the unexpected knock on the door to the 911 emergency phone calls. This program, taught by health educators from South Shore Safety, covers safety to and from school, phone and food safety, first aid, choking prevention, Heimlich maneuver and street smarts awareness. Please have your child bring a nut free snack and drink with them to class. Max 15 students

AGES 9-13

Want to know how the apps work on your phone or iPad? Or do you already have the next great app idea, and just need to know how to make it?
 In this no-experience required course course, we use MIT App Inventor software to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. We will also explore wireless communication by building custom bluetooth hardware controllers and readouts for our apps. Participants will learn both the programming and design aspects of creating great apps, and have the opportunity to build apps of their own design with the support of Circuit Lab instructors. Max 10 students

Embark on a captivating journey into the realm of computer science and coding in this engaging course! Throughout the program, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of computer science and basic programming using Scratch. With a focus on problem-solving and fostering a growth mindset, participants will explore the art of coding while interacting with their computers to bring their ideas to life. Designed for incoming 5th, 6th, and 7th-grade students, this course is perfect for those curious about the world of computer science, regardless of previous programming experience. Join us for an enriching experience where learning meets fun in the world of coding!

AGES 10 - 14

This week will teach key cooking techniques and skills from sauteing to grilling, chopping to bruleing.  Professional Chef Stacey will share her expertise of culinary tips for cooking with seasonal ingredients of proteins, veggies, fruits, grains and herbs.  Build on your culinary skills while creating delicious dishes - great for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, and of course, dessert!  All ingredients, specialized equipment and materials included. Class will be held in DHS Breadboard Commercial Kitchen. Please indicate any food allergies/dietary restrictions at registration. Max 12 students

AGES 10 - 14

This will be a delicious week of culinary skill-building while creating festive dishes from around the world. Each day, we will use fresh ingredients, explore big flavors and cook complete international tasting plates. Join Professional Chef Stacey for a taste of the world. All ingredients, specialized equipment and materials included. Please indicate any food allergies/dietary restrictions at registration. Max 12 students

INSTRUCTOR: STACEY O’BRIEN MURPHY, CCP

AGES 11 - 14

In this innovative course designed for incoming 6th and 7th graders, students will embark on a thrilling journey of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Through hands-on activities, students will learn to build and code robots using the LEGO Spike Prime set, equipping them with essential STEM skills while igniting a passion for robotics. Students will tackle real-world challenges and unleash their imaginations then witness their creations come to life. Join us as we embark on an adventure where innovation knows no bounds!

INSTRUCTOR: Liam Winters (DMS STEM Teacher)

AGES 11 1/2 & UP         

This child-care safety education program teaches new and “seasoned” babysitters information on child development and practical child–care skills, basic first aid and how to handle emergencies, and the characteristics and responsibilities of a successful sitter. Students should bring a doll or stuffed animal to class to practice diapering and choke saving techniques.  A certificate is awarded at the end of class. Please have your child bring a nut free snack and drink with them to class.
