Educational Stability

The Educational Stability Team here in Duxbury, along with the Office of Student and Family Support (SFS) works to ensure that children and youth who are homeless, in foster care, migrant, or in military families have full access to a consistent public education.

Enrolling in Duxbury Public Schools is done online and can be found on our school’s website under the Families tab.  Here in Duxbury, we aim to build a welcoming, safe, and supportive school community for all students. We are glad you are joining us and hope your child's experience will be positive and rewarding.

The Duxbury Public Schools does not discriminate in admission to, access to, treatment in, or employment in its services, programs, and activities on the basis of race, hair traits associated with race, color, sex, national origin, disability, age, homelessness, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The school makes every reasonable effort to provide easy physical access through ramps and elevators. Ample handicapped parking is identified. Handicapped bathrooms are located on each floor. Individuals in wheelchairs are easily accommodated throughout the building and for transportation needs.

All educational programs and services are advertised and open to all individuals, students, staff, and parents/guardians. Program offerings seek to eliminate bias and encourage full opportunities for all. Program modifications allow for the participation of students with disabilities. Pregnant students are provided access to regular education classes and activities during their pregnancy. All co-curricular activities are offered in a non-discriminatory manner. All scholarships, prizes, and awards are free from bias and discrimination.

The Duxbury Public Schools has a Central registrar (registrar@duxbury.k12.ma.us ) who is responsible for tracking, verifying, and reviewing information submitted by parents/guardians.  If a parent/guardian cannot complete the online portion of the registration process, an appointment will be made to provide reasonable time to review documentation.

Proof of residency does not apply to homeless students and families covered under the McKinney-Vento Act. All homeless families should contact the Duxbury Public Schools Assistant Superintendent, who will work with you to enroll your students. The Assistant Superintendent can be reached at 781-934-7600.

If a student in foster care is placed in our community, a Best Interest Determination will take place involving representatives from the Duxbury Public Schools, Department of Children and Families, and the child’s school of origin. To enroll a student in foster care, the DCF case manager will present the Notice to LEA, along with their state agency identification badge. If it is determined that it is in the student’s best interest to attend Duxbury Public Schools, the student will be enrolled immediately without waiting to receive the typical enrollment documentation such as proof of residency, academic records, IEPs, medical records, etc. Students in foster care enrolled in Duxbury are entitled to free breakfast and lunch.
