Overview:

Swank is a user-friendly, on-demand video streaming service (also known as Swank K-12 Streaming) designed specifically for K-12 educational purposes. It's like Netflix or Disney+, but tailored for schools and equipped with features that streamline the use of films in classroom instruction.  All movies are G-PG13 in the Content Library.   DPS users have access to 215 preloaded movies, found in the LICENSED CONTENT section once you log in to Swank.

Faculty should use this service and not heir personal accounts to show movies in the classroom.

Learn more about Swank:

  • Once you find the title of the movie you want (in the Licensed Content Area), click the title and it brings you to a Watch or Copy Link page.

    • You can assign only a portion of a movie by creating a bookmark. Bookmarks are saved for future reference. Find this feature under teh BOOKMARKS section.

    • Copy the link for the movie or bookmark into Google Classroom or Schoology if assigning a film clip for homework or a class project, or press play to watch it in the classroom.

  • What if I don't see the Movie I want in "Licensed Content"?  Our subscription includes an additional 300 titles that can be granted to our school.  There is a REQUEST button that you can click to request a title.

    • The curriculum supervisors and assistant superintendent have been set up as approvers of new movie requests.
CS Team:  If the teacher making the request is in your department, please reply all to the email request so that everyone with approval access knows that the movie has been approved or denied and the assistant superintendent will handle the miscellaneous requests.

    • Once a movie is approved, it automatically goes into the Licensed Content section for this school year for everyone else to watch as well.
