The Duxbury Public Schools Music Department is proud to offer private music lessons as a supplement to our in-school performance lessons/classes. Music lessons have long been a vital part of music performance in Duxbury for many years. Moreover, music departments across the South Shore, state, country, and even the world, view private music lessons as an integral part of music education and it is important to offer lessons to the Duxbury community as well. The Duxbury Public School Music Department partners with Duxbury Before and After Dark in terms of the payment and payroll components of the Private Lesson Program. An overview of the program - and payment process is listed below.
All payments to DPS District Music Staff and out of district Private Lesson Music Program professionals are done through the Unipay system. Lessons must be paid a month at a time and one month in advance. Please do not pay adult instructors directly. If your child is taking lessons with a Duxbury High School student instructor, rather than an adult professional music instructor, the Unipay system is not available as a payment option and you will pay the high school student directly.
Overview of the DPS Music Private Lessons Program with Professional Adult Instructors
● To get started, contact a teacher on the lesson teacher list (available on Schoology) to schedule a day/time, and then click here to complete the sign-up form.
● Lessons are available to all grade 5-12 students.
● Lessons are available on all band and orchestra instruments and voice.
● Lessons are offered throughout the school year and during the summer on a weekly basis. We encourage participation throughout the year. Students may drop lessons at any time.
● The charge for lessons is $32 for each 30 minute lesson, $47 for a 45 minute lesson, $62 for a 1 hour lesson.
● All lessons take place in the Duxbury High School Music Wing, not in the teacher/student home.
● Lessons do not take place on weekends, school holidays, vacations, and canceled school days.
● Instructors and families will work directly with one another to schedule make-up lessons. If an instructor is absent, he/she will contact the family to inform them and to offer a make-up lesson. Families must provide 24 hour notice to the instructor if the student is unable to make a lesson and then can arrange for a make-up with the instructor. Same day lesson cancellations will be marked as unexcused and the family will be responsible for the lesson payment.

Private Lessons Program Payment Process
● Please do not pay DPS Music Staff and adult private lesson music professionals directly. All payments to DPS Music Staff and adult professional Private Lesson Music instructors must be made through the Duxbury Public Schools Unipay system. There is a $0.50 charge per transaction when using your checking account. See the UniPay site for fees involving MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.
● Follow this link MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRIVATE LESSONS to the Private Lesson Music Tab on Unipay to make your payment.
● Once on the Unipay Music Department Private Lessons tab, you will enter the payment amount, your student’s name, select the instructor’s name from the drop down menu, and indicate the number of lessons and the dates of lessons. Lessons must be paid for on a monthly basis and one month in advance of lessons. For example, you would need to make a payment by the end of September for lessons that take place in October.
