Art Reflections With Kindergarten, First Grade & Second Grade Chandler Artists!

Kindergarten

At this grade level, the children are always excited and eager to begin their first Chandler Art explorations! These little Artists creatively progress through a variety of lessons which build brain to motor control development with each new Art material manipulation. It is amazing to witness their artistic creations grow from late August to June.

Grade 1

First grade artists have developed fine motor & thinking skills that will take them to new levels with their creativity and manipulation of Art Materials. The Art Elements are clear with the use of collage, paint, yarn & sculpey clay. TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) is also introduced at this grade level more as Student Choice through a variety of material-based stations along with teacher directive.

Grade 2

At this age, our Grade 2 Artists have a positive mindset & work well as team builders. Ideas come quickly and sometimes in multiples, so this is the perfect time to introduce sketch books! The use of iPads as an Art tool can often-times enhance their projects as an extra exploratory process. Using clay that will be kiln-fired is exciting & the use of clay tools allows for so much more to detail this wonderful Art medium. Painting and/or glaze finalizes this project with a teacher-directive, personal-choice process. Our Chandler Art room Friendly Loom, Granted through the Duxbury Education Foundation, is another exciting station that builds on Grade 2 team artists as weavers.
