Lunch Bunch
What is a Lunch Bunch?
A Lunch Bunch comprises a small group of students, ideally 4-6, who meet regularly to help students connect with peers and incorporate SEL skills. The core purpose of lunch groups is to promote specific social-emotional and behavioral goals for a small group of students. For students participating in lunch groups, it can help them feel seen, build positive coping skills, and work on strengthening relationships with peers. It can also help students who tend to be more 'shy' open up and be relaxed due to the small setting.
It is also a helpful time for counselors to connect with students and create a warm, safe, and supportive learning environment. Lunchtime is the perfect time to work on these social skills because it does not require students to miss any academic time out of their day.
