Welcome to ART !!
This is where we use crayons, colored pencils, markers, gel pens, paint, yarn, clay, beads and more! We make lines & shapes and learn about colors and artists. Our Art room works best with an "art ready" team. Each class knows what this means. We have table colors to keep us on track with art jobs, and signals which keep our attention as well. So much fun is happening in this space where creativity comes at a personal pace.
I teach at Chandler School with our Kindergarten, 1st grade & 2nd grade students. I also teach Art to Mrs. Morgan's 4th Grade class at Alden School this 2018/2019 school year. We have a fabulous Art program here at Duxbury Public Schools. Through a variety of materials, using the Elements and Principles of Art, we teach our best Art practices. Our Art room lessons align with the Mass Frameworks for Visual Arts, along with the National Arts Standards and completely celebrate our students' creative self-expression and individual interpretation! Self-expression is broadened when offering our young Artists multiple material choices within a learning venue. This TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) environment is extremely "creative friendly".
Volunteering in the Alden/Chandler Art room is an option for those who would like to be part of their child's creative experience. If you have an interest, please email me with your name & your child's name & classroom teacher. I will connect back about the Art class time, day and volunteer needs.
Please check out the "Chandler Arts" site under "Curriculum and Instruction" on the Chandler home page. Here you can view some fine artwork examples from our youngest artists here at Duxbury Public Schools.
