Thanks to all that came to Open House. It felt so good to meet all of you.It actually felt great! I look forward to working with all of you this school year. It takes a team to succeed. The students are settling into a routine in class with such enthusiasm. I am really enjoy getting to know them.

Clorox Bleach Wipes
We have begun our new Unit on Launching a Reading Life and using a mentor text, Stone Fox with the lessons. The students are enjoying Stone Fox. We have begun our book Read which I model what we read followed by a lesson that we do together and then the students get to do with their book. WE continue working in Lexia. The class is really enjoying keyboarding through Learning.com. The Book Fair for us to vist is on Monday 10-18. It is agreat fundraiser for Alden while each child can stock up on great books for their book boxes. We work every day with our grammar program Fundations. Writing we will be brainstorming a Personal Narrative for the first term.
We begin every math class with a math warm upon their wipe boards. I mix it up every day adding,subtracting ,multiplying,telling time and they love it! We just wrapped upTopic 2 - Multiplying by 0,1,2,5, 9 and 10. Skip counting videos are on my website to help remember as well as learning patterns. They have really enjoyed rolling to 100 game with multiplication competing against each other. We are starting on Topic 3- Multiplying by 3,4,6,7,8. They will be learning strategies along the way. Flash cards, wipe boards are a great way to be learning our multiplication facts.WE will be moving on to Topic 4 before Halloween week. They love sharing their answers on the wipe board and participating daily.
We have been learning about Force and Motion. Mystery Doug has helped us as well as class experiments with paper, meter stick and Mrs. Hanlon's apple watch timer.We will be creating a pumpkin with a paper propeller with and without weight dropping from various heights.
The students continue to learn about map skills, finding their street and neighborhood. We are getting ready for a walking field trip to The Alden House and The outdoor Pavillion to talk all about Duxbury back in the 1620's.
