Degrees and Certifications:
Classroom Expectations & Policies
There are a few expectations and policies that everyone should be aware of.
Students are expected to come to class with the following supplies each day:
Wordly Wise workbook
Along with this, all students have a writing journal and grammar book that are to remain in the classroom unless an assignment warrants taking them home.
I have what I call "Punctuality Points." Each term, students will receive a grade in the quizzes & classwork category that will be based on how many assignments they have handed in on time.
Late assignments will almost always be accepted for full credit, so long as they are handed in within a reasonable time frame. However, late assignments will be factored into a student's Punctuality Points, and frequent late assignments will negatively impact that particular grade.
Late Writing Assignments:
Late writing assignments will be assessed a penalty of 10 points for every school day that an assignment is late. If an assignment is worth less that 100 points, it will be assessed a penalty of 10% of the total grade. Even if a class doesn't meet the day after a due date, the assignment needs to be handed in. If a writing assignment is being submitted on Schoology, it will be assessed a penalty of 10 points for every day that it is late.
If a student is absent from a full day of school the day a writing assignment is due, their assignment will be due the day they return to school unless otherwise noted. If a student is in school for part of the day a writing assignment is due, their assignment is expected to be handed in that day.
It is building policy that students in grades 6-12 are not permitted to print during the school day. Assignments must be printed before the class period that they are due.
