Ms. Madden
My name is Stephanie Madden, and this is my 18th year teaching writing at Duxbury Middle School. Before coming to Duxbury I taught 6-8th grade writing for one year at St. Theresa's School in West Roxbury.
I graduated from Boston College (Go Eagles!) in 2004 with degrees in Elementary Education and English. In 2007 I enrolled in Middlebury College's Bread Loaf School of English, which is a Master's program designed for English teachers. I graduated in 2011 from their Oxford, England campus, where I had spent two of my summers, with a Master's in English. I currently hold certification in 5th-8th grade English.
Sixth grade is the only year that students have a full class dedicated specifically to writing, and I am thrilled to be working with the students to hone their writing skills. Writing is one of my passions, and I am hoping to help the students see how truly wonderful it can be. By exploring all different types of writing throughout the year, I am confident that they will be able to find their own niche, and in turn feel successful with the writing process.
I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year. Please feel free to email me with any questions that may arise throughout the year.
