Karen Chase was hired as a teacher with the Extended Day programs in 1990. She was a KED teacher for twenty-three of those years and is currently a teacher in the Chandler Breakfast and JR Club Programs. She has a degree in early childhood education and child development from Fisher College. She has worked with children from infancy to 6th grade during her years with Duxbury Community Education. She was particularly well known in the community for her annual KED productions, "Santa's Workshop" and "In the Deep Blue Sea." Karen enjoys extended family time, exercising and the beach. She is also a loyal Patriot's fan.Judith Desrosiers was hired as a teacher with the Chandler JR Club Extended Day Program in 2004 and has been a mentor teacher since 2005. She is currently a teacher in the Alden Club program. She has also been a teacher for the Before and After Dark program since 2006. She has a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Bridgewater State College. She has forty years of teaching experience in both private and public schools, and she has homeschooled all four of her children. Judith lives in Plymouth. She enjoys crafting, reading, gardening, cooking, antiquing, and playing whist with friends.Alisa Wood was hired as a teacher with the Chandler Extended Day Program in 2002. For ten years, she was with the KED (Kindergarten Extended Day) Program. She is currently a Breakfast and Junior Club mentor teacher. Alisa has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Keene State College. She is an accredited Montessori teacher and has taken several additional courses in education through Fisher College, Wheelock College, and Bridgewater State University. She has also been a teacher with the Before and After Dark summer program for many years. Alisa lives in Plymouth with her family, including a son and daughter who are both in college. She enjoys time with her family, gardening and walking with her Boston Terrier, Rocky.Liz Parsons was hired as a teacher with the Duxbury Extended Day Programs in 2007. She spent her first three years at Chandler Extended Day as a KED and Junior Club teacher before assuming the role of Site Director for the Alden Club Program. She has a bachelor’s degree in human development with a concentration in early childhood education from Wheelock College. She is certified to teach infants - grade two and has taken additional coursework in the field of educational leadership. Before joining the Duxbury Extended Day Program, Liz was the curriculum director and lead teacher of a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool that she helped to open in Plymouth. Liz lives in Plymouth with her husband, son Tommy, daughter Ella, and their dog Rayna. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, traveling, going to trivia, playing games, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Julie Happel was hired as a teacher with the Alden Extended Day Program in 2002 and is currently a Chandler Breakfast Club teacher. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Simmons College in Boston. She is a certified teacher in elementary education grades 1-6. Before coming to the Duxbury Extended Day Program, she taught second, third, and fifth grades in Boston and Weymouth schools. She lives in South Weymouth with her husband, two sons and her dog, Mickey. Julie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, and she is a loyal fan of the Patriots and Bruins.
Sandra Coonan is the Director of Community Education, a position that she has held since 1996. As the Director of Community Education, she administers several tuition based programs within the Duxbury Schools; Before and After Dark, Drivers Education, Extended Day, and the Magic Dragon Children's Center. Sandra has a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Stonehill College and a Masters in Education from Bridgewater State University. She and her husband live in Duxbury and they have three adult children and a granddaughter. Sandra enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, gardening, and visits to Cape Cod.
