Emergency Response Protocols
Duxbury Public Schools uses Emergency Response Plans modeled on the National Incident Management System (NIMS) developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. All schools practice emergency drills. We work closely with the Duxbury Police Department (DPD) and Duxbury Fire Department (DFD) to prevent and plan for emergencies.
We have two full-time School Resource Officers in our schools and we meet with the DPD annually to examine our safety response plans and to ensure that our emergency response procedures align with current local, regional, and federally recommended response practices. We also regularly consult with the DFD to ensure compliance with all current fire codes.
Our District Safety Committee includes school administrators, teaching staff, facilities and technology staff, as well as Duxbury Police representatives. This committee consistently reviews our policies and procedures to ensure we are in line with current emergency response protocols. All Duxbury staff members are trained on an annual basis in our emergency response plans.
