Absences: Please send in notes regarding excused absences directly to the office dnewton@duxbury.k12.ma.us. Last year these were done electronically through the Alden Website as a way to cut down on paper being passed back and forth. While you may email us to let us know about the absence, for the absence to be excused, a note is needed. We do not forward emails along to the nurse kcarney@duxbury.k12.ma.us, or the office. Thank you for your cooperation!

Dismissal: Changes to dismissal during the school day must be sent to the office via email or phone call.  There are many days where we are too busy with the kids and professional responsibilities that checking email may not happen until the kids have been dismissed.  These emails should be addressed to the office to either, dnewton@duxbury.k12.ma.us or mmceyoyduane@duxbury.k12.ma.us  While you are always welcome to email us in addition to the office, you must address all dismissal changes with either of the emails listed above.

If you must send a note with your child in the morning, please be sure to clearly list your name, your child’s name, and the teacher’s name.

Homework: Your child should be reading every night for at least 30 minutes. This practice has been proven to be a major factor in their success going forward. If you and your child like to read together, we can send home a set of books for you!  In addition to reading, they will, most nights, also have some math practice. We do expect that you are monitoring your child’s homework and reading. We strongly believe that together we can make this a tremendous year of growth for your child.

There are lots of messy hands and runny noses in a classroom, we thank you in advance for any tissues, paper towels, or hand sanitizer you choose to donate to our team!

Please bookmark the Alden School Website. Most questions, school programs, updates, and forms, and teacher pages are available for you to access. In order to avoid us emailing you repeatedly with the same message, we ask that you frequently check our school website. This saves us a lot of time and we greatly appreciate your attention to school announcements sent

out from administration. If we have special class projects or events, we will email you directly but again, all school events and activities are updated on the Alden School Website.
