    Math, Team 6B
Welcome to Duxbury Middle School and to Team 6B!
    About Mrs Postler
This is my 16th year teaching Math at Duxbury Middle School - I have taught five years of Grade 7 Math Connections/Geometry, and nine years of Grade 6 Math. Hands down, Grade 6 is my favorite! :)
I grew up in Western Connecticut and Massachusetts, and I graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. I was an accountant and financial analyst for 15 years, and I loved it. But as time passed, and as my own kids started school, I found myself drawn to teaching math. I decided to follow that path and go back to school to become a math teacher. It was the best decision I ever made! Teaching is a lot of hard work, but it's so much fun. I enjoy my job immensly - laugh everyday and I'm so thankful to be able to work with such great teachers and amazing students.
I have been married 29 years to my husband, Bob, and I have two amazing daughters. Amy is 27 and Allie is 23. We have a 10-year-old Eskimo-Chihuahua mix named Sammy. She is part daredevil and part sweetheart. We also have a 2-year-old Golden Retriever named Ruby. She is a 60-pound "lap dog", still trying to get used to her huge body. She excels at fitting up to five toys in her mouth at once, then she struts around the house waiting for everyone to notice. She is so much fun and she keeps us on our toes!
Now that you know a little about me, I can't wait to get to know you!
    Technology and Student/Parent Access
This year, you will be introduced to Schoology, which is our Learning Management System. Schoology is used from grades 6 - 12 for teachers to post assignments, videos, test and quiz information, and general information. It is an excellent resource and will keep you connected to your teachers and classmates! For math, all homework assignments will be posted on the homework board to be written in your agenda, and will also post it in Schoology as a backup and for more details. Most assignments can be completed and submitted on Schoology, but to me, nothing replaces pencil and paper math.
Students have access to Schoology through: https://duxbury.schoology.com, found on the DMS home page.  Each teacher will provide an access code for students to join his/her class (in addition to Grade Level and DMS Student pages) and parents have access codes provided through the portal (Aspen).  Parents, please check the portal and get logged in to keep updated on your students' progress.  Parents will access Schoology through:  www.schoology.com. Click on the Get Started button at the top of the page and enter access code. Please contact the Tech Department with any questions.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year! I know it will look a lot different, but we will work hard to make it memorable and fabulous. Please know that I am here if you ever need anything!

    My classroom expectations are simple:
    1. Be Kind and Respectful - Always!
    2. Work Hard and Be Prepared for Class
    3. Follow Directions
    4. Listen While Others Are Talking
Follow these four rules, you will have an incredible and successful 6th grade year!
