    Welcome to 4th Grade!

We hope you all had a wonderful summer. We have an exciting year planned for you! We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves. Our names are Ms. Amy Ball, and Mrs. Melissa Bateman. We will your child’s fourth grade teachers this year.

About Mrs. Ball- Last year was my 20th year with Duxbury Public Schools! I received my Master’s of Education in 2001 from Cambridge College and I continue to take graduate level courses for professional growth. I have two children, Shamus, who will be turning 17 in October and Macklin, who will be 13 in April.  Both boys attend Hanover Schools. We’ve had a great summer enjoying the pool, beach, and vacationing on a cruise to Bermuda with family.

About Mrs. Bateman- Last year was my 19th year with Duxbury Public Schools! I received my Master’s of Education in 2001 from Cambridge College and I continue to take graduate level courses for professional growth. I have two children, Jacob, who will be turning 14 in November and Patrick, who will be 12 in June. Both boys attend Kingston Schools. We also have a 6 year old black Lab named Bruin a 3 year old Tabby cat named Timmy, 2 Guinea Pigs (Caramel and Billy) and chickens. We’ve had a great summer enjoying our pool, the beach, Canobie Lake Park and camping.

We are excited to be working with Special Educator, Jamie Rossetti this year. We have worked together in the past and are thrilled to be matched up again with her. This will be Mrs. Rossetti's 9th as a co-teacher of Special Education. She has an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. Feel free to visit her site at:About Mrs. Rossetti-

Outside of class, we will be attending workshops, in service- meetings, college classes, and seminars. We enjoy teaching and are excited to start a new school year! So you can relax, your child is in great hands this year.

We believe that what happens in this classroom will affect your child’s future. Your child’s time during the day will be well spent. He or she may even come home exhausted from all the thinking done during the day. Therefore, we will make every minute count. With your help, this will be a wonderful year. Communication and teamwork between the classroom and home make the difference in your child’s education.

Please visit our class website weekly for updates and websites to access.

Please watch for many notices from the school during the first two weeks, as there is a great deal we need to communicate to you. Our preferred means of communication is via an APP called CLASS DOJO Directions for accessing this will be sent home the first week of school.  Email and website postings are also used. Effective communication is important! We will send home all important notices on THURSDAY night. Parents and students need to look though this folder and a signature is required. Please know that we are here to help support your child's education and the best way to do this is through ongoing communication.

Our team are lovers of technology. Students are assigned homework that will need internet connections. At many points each week we will use Envision math almost nightly. Students create projects and poems along with using jeopardy games and other study tools. We strongly believe homework should only take 40 minutes.

Please communicate with us if homework is taking your child longer than 40 minutes. We can devise a plan to help support homework time.
