• Back to school is one of our favorite times of the year ...
new notebooks, pens, pencils, and markers.  Not to mention a fresh start with new teachers, new classes, and new classmates.  Heading back to school can also be stressful especially when you are entering a new school.  There are many unknowns like... Where is my locker?  Where is my homeroom (also known as iLab)? Will I make it to my next class on time? And what is my next class anyway?

Not to fear!  The first few days of 6th grade are spent learning how to read your schedule, how to use your agenda and learning new routines.  The Team 6A Teachers will help you color-code your schedule, organize your binders, help you find your classes, figure out how to open your locker, and so much more.

Wednesday, Thursday, and most of Friday will be spent learning and practicing the new routines.  You will not be having "classes" until the last block on Friday.

Try to "go with the flow" and leave the worrying to adults.

    WEDNESDAY

When you arrive at school you will either be directed to wait in the cafeteria or Team Area (the big open space between the Team 6A classrooms).  If you are directed to the Cafeteria keep your backpack with you and hang-out with the other kids.  You will find kids from all three grades waiting to be dismissed to the Team Areas at 7:55.  If you are directed to the Team Area you may put your backpack in your iLab (homeroom) teachers classroom then come back out to the Team Area to hang-out with your teammates.

The first bell will ring at 8:15 at which time you will walk to your iLab (homeroom) teacher's classroom.  DMS does not usually have "homeroom" as part of the daily schedule.  However, on the first day of school, all students in all grades go to iLab on the first day for some special announcements.  When you arrive follow the teacher's instructions about where to si and what to do.
