Smart is not something you are.  Smart is something you get. (Jeff Howard)

    Dear Students & Families,

WELCOME to Duxbury Middle School and Team 6A!

This year in science we will use the SEPUP (The Science Education for Public Understanding Program) curriculum to guide our learning.  DMS adopted the SEPUP curriculum for grades 6-8 in the 2018-2019 school year.  It is an innovative science curriculum that keeps issue-oriented science at the core of its curriculum.  Every unit uses personal and societal issues to provide thematic continuity for student investigations and observations while practicing science skills.  SEPUP is part of UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science.  The materials used in class are distributed by LAB-AIDS, Inc.  Therefore, you may hear one teacher call the program SEPUP and another LAB-AIDS.  Team 6A alumni and I love the SEPUP curriculum and I know you will too.

Students, remember learning doesn’t stop when you walk out of school at the end of the day.  You will encounter science in your every day life and should search for hte answers to the things that interest you.

What you learn in 6th grade is important, you can do it and I'll be there to help along the way.

                              Sincerely, Mrs. Casale-McCarthy
