Matt Collins is a graduate of Penn State University where he received his Bachelors of Music Education degree. He has studied trumpet with Dr. Langston Fitzgerald III; wind conducting with Dennis Glocke, Dr. Eric Bush and Dr. Carter Biggers; and choral conducting and pedagogy with Dr. Christopher Kiver. During his time at Penn State, Mr. Collins was an active performer in the school’s top instrumental and choral ensembles. He has also completed additional studies in music composition and technology through the Berklee College of Music where he was awarded the Mark Mothersbaugh Scholarship for his academic achievements.
In the Duxbury Public Schools, Mr. Collins teaches the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band at Duxbury High School. He also works with the 6th Grade Band, 7th and 8th grade bands, the DHS Pep Band, the Middle School Jazz Club, and teaches private lessons.
Outside of Duxbury, Mr. Collins is an active educator in Drum Corps International. He is currently on the brass instructional staff for Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps and in the past has performed with and taught the two-time DCI World Champion Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Collins’ professional affiliations include NAfME, MMEA, and NBA.
