Matt Collins is a graduate of Penn State University where he received his Bachelors of Music Education degree. He has studied trumpet with Dr. Langston Fitzgerald III; wind conducting with Dennis Glocke, Dr. Eric Bush and Dr. Carter Biggers; and choral conducting and pedagogy with Dr. Christopher Kiver. During his time at Penn State, Mr. Collins was an active performer in the school’s top instrumental and choral ensembles. He also led the Penn State Men's Glee Club as tour manager when the group traveled to Iceland in the spring of 2016.
Between 2015-2017 Mr. Collins spent his summers touring the country performing with and teaching the two-time DCI World Champion Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. He performed as a lead trumpet and soloist. Upon “aging-out”, Mr. Collins returned to the corps in 2017 to serve as an instructor on the brass staff.
In the Duxbury Public Schools, Mr. Collins works with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble at Duxbury High School. He also works with the 6th Grade Band, 7th and 8th grade bands, the DHS Pep Band, and the Middle School Jazz Club and teaches private lessons.
Mr. Collins’ professional affiliations include NAfME, MMEA, PMEA, ASTA, and NBA. In addition he currently studies music composition through the Berklee College of Music.
