    Hello families,

Wow – that’s about all there is to say these days, as everything going on the world just doesn’t seem real. It’s almost impossible to believe where we are not only in terms of education but in terms of managing our day to day lives. I am not a parent, so I can’t imagine how challenging it must be to wear so many hats at home. To that end, I thank for you all you’re doing for your children and for your continued patience with us while we work to figure out the next step in teaching our students.

I hope the weekly schedule brings some measure of routine and stability to your day in terms of what your children should be working on. I enjoy our weekly Zoom meetings and responding to their journal entries, and the level of participation with regards to the entirety of the schedule has been very good overall. As we are now no longer returning to school until at least May 4th, the importance of maintaining a routine and reinforcing certain skills has become critical. That means that students really should be engaging with the material that is posted. If this is an issue please do not hesitate to reach out to me, however in the meantime I may reach out to families individually if I notice a child is not accessing the material that is assigned/posted.

I know we are all feeling overwhelmed sometimes by this strange new reality, but I did want to point out that at this time of the year I would have been offering spring conferences. These conferences have always been optional, and therefore I have sent a link to a Google Form that asks if you would like a brief phone conference to touch base. Please note that I cannot discuss placement, and if you have input in that area please see Mrs. Whitaker’s Google Form regarding that topic.

I desperately want to be back in my classroom, and I can’t stress enough how much I miss the students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or comments, or even just to say hi. We are all feeling the strain of this craziness and I welcome any human interaction I can get! I wish you all the best and will be in touch soon.
