News from the District
Duxbury Public Schools is a community of learners, from the youngest members of our student population to the veteran members of our staff. We are committed to creating learning experiences that engage students in their learning and enhance classroom environments to be places where students are invested learners.
Our staff is dedicated to ongoing professional learning, reflection, and collaboration. We have continued the professional development focused on differentiated instruction and have started to work towards creating opportunities for teachers to observe each others’ practice. We continue to reflect upon our practice, use student data to determine where patterns may exist as a result of curriculum or instruction, and make changes as needed.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) recently posted the 2022 School Report Cards. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. The Schools/District report card provides one piece of information on how we as a learning community are performing based on target areas set by the State. The target areas are decided as a result of our MCAS results. In January, DESE asked stakeholders to participate in a survey regarding MCAS and standardized testing. Dr. Klingaman shared this information and the link to the survey in her weekly message to families. We look forward to hearing from DESE regarding the data gathered through this survey and any subsequent changes that may be made as a result and will share these with you, our Duxbury community.

This page provides information relative to all aspects of curriculum and instruction in the Duxbury Public Schools. Curriculum includes our local curriculum maps as well as references to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Instruction outlines our current projects and initiatives as well as plans for meeting the needs of all students. Our assessment work is extensive and includes both MCAS results as well as local measures. The district's planning occurs at many levels all of which connect through the strategic, technology, and school improvement plans. Duxbury's focus on professional development is continuous.
