Duxbury Idol Celebrates
Sixth Year

2010 Duxbury Idol contestants (Kerry Turok, Tori Clough, Emmanuel Catanzariti, Ike Fontaine, Kerri MacLennan, Emily Merlin, Gillian Desmarais, Jessie Williams, Kate Cameron) wowed the audience and judges alike with, in the words of one judge, one "stunning" performance after another. Helping to judge the May 8 event were: Liz Raven of WATD; Meri-Lee Mafera, Founder of KidSpot musical theater, which is performing Guys and Dolls this summer; and John Fernandes, The Music Man.

Winner Ike Fontaine will receive 10 hours of studio time at Musicians Development Institute in Cedarville, as well as a sweatshirt or other item of his choice from Performance Plus.

Duxbury Music Promoters
Seeks New Talent

With several Duxbury Music Promoter board members watching their youngest students head off to college this fall, DMP is looking for parents of musicians in grades 5 through 12 -- and other community members who love music, too! -- to join its band of volunteers and fund-raisers. Thanks to top-notch faculty, Duxbury's music program is the best in the state, and DMP's job is to support them behind-the-scenes in a wide number of roles. Parents with expertise in PR or who'd like to help with the holiday auction are particularly welcome! Find out all the ways to get involved next week at a meeting on Tuesday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at the high school orchestra room.

Membership Info

• Quarter Note: $35 per household
• Half Note: $75 per household, with recognition in the spring concert program
• Whole Note: $200 per household, with four VIP seats at each concert, spring program recognition.
  
  All members receive a DUX Music car decal, as well. Duxbury Music Promoters is a non-profit run by families and other community members who love music and want to support our student musicians. Some 680 students from fifth to twelfth grades participate, with performing groups collecting a range of competitive honors and opportunities to play at venues such as Boston Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Walt Disney World.
